Year 1

This week in Year One:

Year 1’s Weekly Round-Up –

This week we have been finishing our story ‘Major Glad and Major Dizzy’ and we have written letters to Grandparents asking if they can share some information on the toys they had when they were young and if they might still have any. Our letters were lovely and the children are trying so hard with their handwriting. In maths, we have been focusing on 2 digit numbers and looking at how the number system works. We have been counting out cubes and when we reach 9 and are ready to add one more, we have exchanged this for a ten stick and placed in the tens column. We have then highlighted how important it is to add a 0 for a place holder so we know this is a ten and not a one. Most of us have really understood this concept and can confidently add and take numbers to a number that crosses a ten. Our topic is ‘How do Muslims live’ and we have been learning about the 5 pillars of Islam. The children have really enjoyed sharing their own knowledge with each other and working together to create some lovely art work for this unit. Eid Mubarak to all of our families celebrating Eid next week.
