This Week in Year Six:
Another really busy week last week for year 6. In English last week we have written our own Norse myths based on our book ‘Arthur and the Golden Rope.’ In Maths we have been learning how to substitute, use formulae and understand algebra. In Science we looked at how the voltage in a circuit can change and compared different batteries. In PE we have been learning to travel in a variety of ways on various equipment. In History this week we looked at the achievements of the Vikings which helped us to answer the question Where the Vikings, raiders, traders or something else?
This week, Mrs Partington has been very impressed with how the children are discussing their learning and are able to talk about their lessons. She has reminded them about how we speak with visitors and how lucky we re to have so many extra resources such as the ipads, cookery room and outside spaces. We have also spent time discussing the 9 Protected Characteristics and how we are definitely stronger together. Have a lovely weekend.
The Home Learning Question this week: Why are the Oceans important?
There is also the usual Spag and Maths homework set to be completed by Friday. Our values certificate winner is Muhammad Zayaan who got an Resilient Rebecca for showing huge resilience in his maths learning this week. Muhammet once again and Eva have been awarded with the most dojos in class so are this week’s Sharples Super Stars. A well done to Irene too was awarded as reader of the week. Well done everyone! We must stress the importance of reading at LEAST 3 TIMES A WEEK. This helps to ensure your child continues to make the progress expected, by working together at home and school this can be achieved. Homework activities have been set on maths.co.uk and spag.com. Children also have access to Reading Plus, LBQ, Times Table Rock Stars and NumBots to support their independent learning.
We hope you have a lovely weekend and enjoy your family time. The Year 6 team.
